“COSMIC ETERNAL LOVERS”, and what are they?

First off, let’s break down each of the words, and the meaning might become somewhat self explanatory.

COSMIC: “of or relating to the cosmos, the extraterrestrial vastness, or the universe in contrast to the earth alone”ETERNAL: “having infinite duration”LOVERS: “two persons in love with each other”

When put together in a way that makes sense, cosmic eternal lovers translates to “two people relating to the cosmos in love for an infinite duration”; but that’s not a perfect description of what “cosmic eternal lovers” are.The best way to describe them in my own words is “two fictional characters whose souls are bound together. And no matter what universe or timeline they end up in, they will fall in love with each other.”

Basically, they’re soulmates! But, there are a few things needed in canon for a pair to qualify as "cosmic eternal lovers."Most pairs that fall under this category follow a few of these traits:

Whether their memories are wiped or a new timeline is created, they will fall in love again.• The story they’re in would not be the same without their relationship.• There is prevalent symbolism that connects them.• These characters can exist without the other, but feel incomplete and alone when separated.• The world is working against them. The circumstances, society, or mold they’re in restrain their relationship from flourishing to its full potential. Once they are able to break out of the circumstances, society, or mold, their relationship is able to flourish without restraint.

Something VERY important to note is that not all pairings have canon instances of their memories being wiped / new timeline versions of themself being created and them still falling in love with each other again. If you believe that this pairing would do this, then that’s all you really need to qualify for that underlined bullet.Another important aspect of Cosmic Eternal Lovers is that, yes, they can hate each other or end up "destroying one another." Unfortunately, due to the circumstances, society, or mold they're restrained in, their relationship often can not flourish in a healthy way (this depends on the characters). This can lead to them being rivals or despising one another; yet still being bound together and feeling incomplete without one another. Many pairings never end up breaking free from that mold and end up being "doomed lovers."

Examples of Cosmic Eternal Lovers:

There are more, but these are the one's with the most canonical backing. If you have a pairing that matches 4/5 of the criteria, feel free to message me on twitter and I will consider adding it.
